What To Expect When We Meet

Picture
We understand that going to a new place can be challenging. So, we put together a quick reference guide to help smooth out the process.

If you still have any questions, please call the church office at (586) 803-4220 or you can email us at on our Contact page. We look forward to meeting you!

How are the people?
While admittedly there is no real way of finding out how we're like without meeting us, we want you to know that we are caring and compassionate people who understand the verse, "I desire mercy and not sacrifice." We don't claim to be perfect and don't expect you to be either.

What should I wear?

There isn't a strict dress code.  Some folks do dress up, while others wear jeans. The point is to dress in a way that is appropriate for you to worship God. Whatever you wear, you will be welcome.

When should I arrive?
Arriving 10-15 mins early ensures that you can get acclimated, grab a coffee and get to know us before service.  If you have children, they can get to know the other kids before service starts as well.

What time are Services?
Services usually last about two hours on Sunday’s beginning at 10:30 am. There is plenty of room, but it’s always good to be here about ten to fifteen minutes early so you can get acclimated, grab a coffee from the cafe, and get to know us. If you have children, we have a nursery for the younger ones, and children’s church time for the older ones. It is a one room school house experience, so children five through twelve interact and learn together.

What do you do during service?
We usually begin with a prayer, followed by singing songs to God, and finally a time where someone shares some of their thoughts from the Bible.   There are times when the leader will give guidance on different ways to express your gratitude to God but beyond that, please feel free to kneel, stand, or sit whenever you'd like.

How do you do communion?
Something that is unique about among Protestant churches, is the practice of communion. It is a very important part of our worship. We believe that this is the table of Jesus and not our table where He invites us to be in relationship with Him.  It is our general practice to either pass a tray with pieces of bread and a tray with small cups of grape juice or to invite everyone to the front altar area to receive the elements together. After the blessing, we take and eat the bread, and then drink the juice in remembrance of Christ's sacrifice on the cross for our sins.  If you'd like more information, please don't hesitate to call, e-mail or ask one of us.

Where is The Nations Church?
We are located on Messmore Road, just north of Hall Road (also known as M-59) in Shelby Township, Michigan. We are in a residential area that's about half mile east of Van Dyke and half mile south of 21 Mile Road. We're just behind the Whispering Woods Park.

"Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28: 18-20
